Your Soldiers Are Cowards, Neither Jonathan Nor Buhari Can Rule Nigeria - Shekau

The controversial leader of the Boko Haram terror group Abubakar Shekau on Tuesday declared the duo of President Goodluck Jonathan and his 2015 arch-rival, Muhammadu Buhari as infidels who cannot rule Nigeria. He declared that the war he is waging would soon bring democracy to an end.

Mr. Shekau who spoke in a 36 minutes video released via youtube also warned that more killings and attacks would be recorded in the days to come as he boasted that the quantum of ammunition his group has so far seized from the Nigerian army especially in Baga would be enough to prosecute a war against Nigeria.

The man whom Nigeria military authority had declared dead on three occasions in the last two years said his group would soon bring Nigeria to its knees and warned the governments of the neighbouring countries, comprising of Chad, Cameroon and Niger of similar attacks. Mr. Shekau who appeared in the video standing in front of three patrol jeeps mounted with anti-air assault guns was dressed in his usual military khaki with an AK47 hanging from his shoulder across his chest.

He delivered his long speech, first in Arabic which lasted for 17 minutes and then in Hausa for about seven minutes. He ended his speech by burning a Nigerian flag, and replacing it with his group’s flag that had a black background and white inscription.

One Killed, Five Vehicles Burnt As Jonathan Campaigns In Kano

One person was yesterday confirmed dead and five vehicles burnt in a clash involving thugs loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Party, APC, in Kano State.

Our correspondent gathered that the clash occurred as President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign train stormed the Polo Ground in continuation of the party’s re-election bid in February.

It was learnt that thugs brandished dangerous weapons during the clash; moments after President Jonathan started his campaign.

Police Command spokesman, Magaji Musa Majia, an ASP, confirmed the incident and loss of life, including destruction of five vehicles.

Majia added that the police were investigating the incident to ascertain the cause.

The clash is coming on the heels of the presence of presidential candidates of the two dominant parties in the state.

The APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, was in Kano on Tuesday and yesterday, he also addressed journalists on the allegation that he did not have the requisite qualification to contest for the presidency.

Meanwhile, Jonathan was welcomed to Kano by a large crowd of supporters, even as the president used the occasion to felicitate with people of the state over the emergence of Muhammad Sanusi as new emir.

Thousands of PDP supporters had thronged the venue of the campaign rally as early as 9am, with traffic gridlock on major routes.

Speaking at the rally, Jonathan urged the people to cast their votes for his party, noting that the emergence of Mallam Salihu Takai, as governorelect would pave the way to further elevate the commercial viability of the state.

He stated that the people and city of Kano are renowned for commercial activities and agriculture, adding that voting for the PDP at all levels would boost the commercial and agrarian activities of the state.

Father Mbaka versus Patience Jonathan: N5m in offering bag?

Clearly, the Mbaka episode is multi-dimensional and it is getting messier by the day. It has reached a point where President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife cannot remain mute for too long, lest they will continue to be misunderstood. The theatricals are still unfolding.

Act I: Scene I – Dame Patience Jonathan visits the Catholic Adoration Centre in Enugu, a church headed by Revd Father Ejike Mbaka. Madam is pleasantly received and Father Mbaka eulogises her husband to the high heavens. So impressed was Dame that she dropped N5 million in the offering bag. And this was marvelous in the sight of Mbaka.

Scene II: Madam returns to Abuja. Father Mbaka makes several unsuccessful attempts to see her.

Act II: Scene I – A short while later, Father Mbaka lampoons the Jonathan administration for abysmal performance. In a New Year message titled:

“From Good luck to Bad luck”, Mbaka openly canvassed the rejection of President Jonathan at the 2015 presidential election, thus asking Nigerians to vote for a leader who can tackle the many challenges facing Nigeria. He lashed out at men of God who hobnob with the powers-that-be.

Mbaka went ruthlessly personal: “The Jonathan administration has failed… When Goodluck met Yar’Adua, he got bad luck and died. When Goodluck met our oil, it poured away and met bad luck. When Goodluck met our Naira, it met bad luck… Look at you brilliant youth, nobody has any plans for you… 2015 cannot be the same. We announce change… Boko Haram has virtually crippled the Northeastern part of the country…

"Many are saying that it is Buhari that said he would make our country ungovernable. Even though Buhari never said such a thing, but if you are the President, will you not arrest such a person? Are you waiting for your own church to be bombed before you speak out? … If my father will be leader and my siblings will all die, let a stranger be my leader and let my family live….”

Questions: Where did things go wrong? When is a housewife who goes about throwing money around worth investigating? From the much we know, the office of First Lady is totally alien to our Constitution. Where did this housewife get all the money she is throwing around? When are we going to have an Internal/Inland Revenue Service that will be alive to its responsibilities? In the United States of America, for instance, if you are unable to account for your source wealth, Uncle Sam would pursue you far into the bottomless pit.

Which offering bag would contain N5 million, even in our highest denomination of N1000 notes? Is it possible, albeit most unlikely, that the
What would have transpired for the Reverend to exploded, and resolved to take his pound of flesh!

Only a good investigation would unraveled the truth here but given the pluralistic nature of our society, even the investigators are, ab initio, handicapped: if they push too hard, they are seen as supporting the opposition; and if they do not push hard enough, they are seen as working for the “oga at the top”.

Meanwhile, Father Mbaka has come under severe criticism from many quarters. He is accused of washing the dirty linens in public. Our counsel is to prevent the linen from dirt for, once the linen gets dirty, it can be washed anywhere – even on the pulpit!

Again, the Mbaka sermon provides a most damning verdict on the Jonathan administration, particularly coming from the most unexpected quarters – the Southeast, where Jonathan’s second-term bid had become a foregone conclusion.

The Mbaka sermon has a lot of parallels in history. Right from biblical times, courage has been the stuff of which leaders are made. When Queen Esther saved an entire generation of people, asserting unequivocally, “If I perish I perish”, she demonstrated rare courage. When the Archbishop Olubunmi Okogie, as he then was, remained in the vanguard of critics of our military rulers, he demonstrated uncommon courage.

There is something that cannot be taken away from Father Mbaka – he has shown that the easiest way of perpetuating evil is for good men to do nothing. For too long, men of God have remained docile in the face of injustice in this country, oblivious of the fact that it is only when society is at peace that the church can be at peace. For instance, how many people can go to church in the troubled regions of the world?

There is no escaping the inevitable conclusion that the church in Nigeria today has become hopelessly compromised, commercialized and polarized.

But let no one be deceived into believing that religious leaders have no business in politics and governance. One major problem in this country has been the failure of the church to live up to expectation as the conscience of the people and the representatives of God on earth. We believe that many of the ills that have plagued this country would have been averted had our religious leaders been courageous enough to speak out as appropriate.

The situation here calls for a lot of restraint. Whatever the motivation mix and despite Mbaka’s apparent duplicity, there are aspects of his message that cannot be totally ignored. There comes a time when we must ignore the messenger and still accept his message.

Revealed: Why Men want S*x in the morning & Ladies at night

It appears there is never a bad time to have s*x, be it in the morning, afternoon or night, and being one of the most pleasurable obligations in marriage, couples have had it at such times some people may consider ‘ungodly.’

In as much as s*x has no definite time or venue before it can be enjoyed, findings have shown that men want it regularly in the morning, while women crave for it at night.

The question then is, why is it that men want s*x and are good to go for it first thing in the morning while the women often want to get in the mood late in the evening?

In justifying their findings, some scientists attributed men’s early morning desire to two things – hormones and because it could make a day better. The result of the study was published in the Mirror UK.

It is no news that men usually wake in the morning with an er*ction, feeling amorous, which is occasioned by the testosterone hormone in their body, and since a hard-on is also instrumental to s*x, that pleasurable act may just be lurking in their thoughts.

The study noted that a man’s level of s*x hormones is at the highest when he wakes up while a woman’s is at the lowest. Notably, higher testosterone levels equals higher s*x drive. Even though both men and women have testosterone, it is more present in men, known as the s*x drive or male hormone.

One of the researchers, Ashley Grossman, a professor at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, said even before a man opens his eyes in the morning, his level of testosterone is at its peak – between 25 per cent and 50 per cent – more than at any other time of the day.

He explained that the pituitary gland in a man’s brain – which governs the production of the male s*x hormone – has been switched on in the night and its levels have been rising steadily until dawn.

Hence, a low levels can be linked to a lack of sleep because good sleep boosts the level of the testosterone hormone in a man’s body, which can often cause an er*ction and a tendency to make the men more aggressive in pursuing s*x.

“Women also make testosterone – the main s*x drive hormone – but produce a fraction of the amount and it rises by only a tiny bit overnight, and it is also kept in balance by oestrogen and progesterone.

“Men need only a normal amount of testosterone to feel like having s*x, and the raised levels in the morning means most men will wake with er*ctions, which informs part of the reasons they want s*x then.

“Studies found that the longer and deeper a man has slept, the higher his testosterone levels and research in the Journal of the American Medical Association shows getting more than five hours’ sleep can raise the hormone levels by an extra 15 per cent,” Grossman said.

While contributing to the study, a female consultant gynaecologist based in Birmingham, Gabrielle Downey, said male and female levels are at their highest at opposite ends of the day, so they are out of synch.

She said that while the hormones secreted during men’s sleep at night trigger their s*x-in-the-morning mood, it takes more than hormones for women to be in the mood. She noted that some studies have shown that a woman’s testosterone levels are likely to increase on the anticipation of s*x with her man.

This probably means that whilst at work or closing from work, women who envisage having s*x with their partner later in the evening tend to have more testosterone levels, thus, a higher s*xual drive.

Therefore, as evening approaches, while a woman’s testosterone level is heading towards its highest point, even if slowly, a man’s is dropping to the lowest level of the day. But regardless of the fact that men’s testosterone levels are now at their lowest, it is interesting to know that they are still more likely to have s*x in the evening.

“It’s been said that women need a reason and men just need a place – I think that’s true because regardless of the low male testosterone, they are still responsive,” says Gabrielle.

Should the s*xual act happen eventually, the bonding hormone, oxytocin, is released, prompting most men to sleep after the s*x.

The release of oxytocin after s*x aids sleep, which is the reason why many men are notorious for falling fast asleep after making love.

According to a love network expert, Ms Michele Weiner-Davis, couples should discuss how they would meet their respective needs since the time of their interest varies.

“Each of them should be willing to do it once at the time of day when the other is ready. And if they are really exhausted or in a rush when the partner wants it, they can say no, but suggest a better, but not distant time that will work,” she said.

Hon Gondina Musa Sambo, a member representing Pengana state constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly on the platform of the APC, has said that the military training of Muhammadu Buhari had with which he rose to the rank of General and former head of state is enough to qualify him for the exalted office of the President of this country.
